Staffing SBS Montana 25/26
WHAT A YEAR!!
Staffing School of Biblical Studies this year has been a whirlwind:) There have been high highs and low lows, but overall this year was a success! Watching students be moved and transformed by the Word of God has been such an inspiration to see. The Word of God has so much power and we cannot ignore it!
I started my staffing journey at the end of July 2025 when New Staff Training began to prepare us for the year to come, teaching and training students in the inductive method and Bible study. During staff training they taught us how to teach, grade, and disciple. These three topics go along with our SBS values: Bible, People, Missions. We value these things in order to stay true to our mission of knowing God and making Him known, TOGETHER!
This year I helped the students know God by teaching 1 Thessalonians, 2&3 John, and Ecclesiastes. I got to prepare these teachings each for 6 weeks by inductively studying them, reading them over and over, talking with other teachers about the books, and reading commentaries to hear what authors have to say. Within preparation I really got to meet with the Lord through His word and it was such a joy to get to share what I was learning with others. I loved teaching this year, even though teaching for 3 hours per book was somewhat daunting:)
People, another one of our values in SBS that we lived out through discipleship! I had 3 girls that I got to disciple this year and WOW was this a blessing. Getting to know and do life with each of these girls was so fun and inspiring. Seeing how they were being moved by the word of God and how they lived faithfully for the Lord was such a highlight. I am so proud of each of them for doing SBS and taking the past 9 months to REALLY know God!
SBS staffing taught me how to teach the Bible, lean on the Lord through transition, and communicate well (or better). Overall this year was wonderful, but there were hardships and I really had to learn how to communicate that and not stay stuck in disappointment or bitterness. I am not perfect and am still learning how to do this, but I am grateful for this hard season as it has really helped me grow.
Thank You SBS Montana staff for walking with me in this season and for welcoming me onto the team for this year!
NEXT STEPS:
This summer I will be serving on the Montana Base in the kitchen & in an administrative role called personnel, then this fall I will be continuing in the personnel role and also stepping into teaching in the preschool on base! With this year being Matthew & I’s first year married we believe this will be a better pace for us than me staffing SBS. Having these jobs will help me to not bring work home and really get to spend time with Matthew and grow in our relationship! Staff SBS was great, but I really struggled with constantly feeling like I was working or needed to be working. To simply put it, I really just wanted to do my best for the students but that easily turned into striving and not just doing what I could within the hours of the days I had. So far the summer has been great! Kitchen lead and Personnel have been great jobs to have!
